Bernard's Ltd, Wheatfield Road, Gorgie , Edinburgh , Lothian .

Daniel Bernard quarrelled with his brother, John Mackay Bernard and remained at the old Edinburgh Brewery in Canongate.

When the North British Railway relinquished those premises, he built a new brewery at Gorgie in 1893. Bernard's Ltd. was liquidated in 1904 and brewery sold to Lothian Distillery Co. Ltd. Caledonian Brewing Co. Ltd, Slateford Road.

Brewing commenced 1987 in old Lorimer & Clark buildings. In 2004 Scottish & Newcastle, having decided to close the Fountain Brewery, took a 30% share and contracted for the brewing of their beers.
