Founded c.1800 by Thomas Broughton whose family were brewers there until 1870s.
Then had a series of owners Charles Eyres, Joseph Brighty and Hugh Berks Bell. The latter sold to Burton & Lincoln Breweries Ltd c.1890 until sale in 1897.
Site redeveloped as a shopping centre.
