BAMBERG - 2013

Info sheet No.2

I set out below the base programme in Bamberg for Tuesday 14 May at 09.15 to

    Friday 17 May 2013 at 18.00 ish. We have considerable support and assistance 

    from Christian Kestel the english speaking archivist with Weyermann and 

    Kasper- Schulz who will be with us on both Tuesday (14th)  and Friday (17th) 

    leading the visits and walks.

1) For those in Bamberg on Monday 13 May evening I suggest we meet for a beer

   and a chat in the bar of the Fassla Brewery - Obere Konigstrasse 19-21 
    from 19.30 ( at this moment I am not sure which one bar as there are 3 or 4 )

   - but I am sure we will all find each other. 

2) Tuesday 14 May 2013

      09.15  assemble outside the main rail station and walk to Weyermann Speciality Maltings

      10.00  Weyermann Speciality Maltings visit - led by Christian Kestel - 

      12.30  transfer to Greifenklau brewery   - light refreshment  followed by brewery tour

      14.30   old town walk to the centre past some historic brewery sites led by Christian Kestell

      17.00    free time 

      18.45  Schenkerla restaurant for supper in the Uhlanzimmer - with owner /brewer from 

                 Hellerbrau and maybe some other hosts of the visits        

3) Wednesday 15 May 2013

      10.00   assemble - Tourist Info Office 

      11.00   Klosterbrau - brewery visit and beer tasting

      12.00    lunch at Klosterbrau stuberl

      13.30    Free time or visit Bamberg - Franconian Brewery Museum  ( open 13.00-17.00) optional

      16.00    Hellerbrau - Rauch bier brewery of Schenkerla - visit led by Head Brewer 

      17.30    free time - or walk to Kellers on Stephansberg

4) Thursday 16 May 2013

       09.45   assemble at ZOB ( central bus station) to catch

       10.10 -  No. 907 bus to Memmelsdorf ( I will have the bus tickets) 

                   eta Memmelsdorf - 10.30

             To visit 2 small brewery gasthof's  in this dormitory village 

       10.45  -  Brauerei Hohn  - visit and beer taste followed by next door

       12.00  -  Brauerei Drei Kronen  - led by Hans Kudwig Straub

                  - the old brewery buildings are behind - visit, beer tasting 

                     and lunch  at Drie Kronen Gasthof Restaurant   

        14.00  - free afternoon to return to Bamberg or visit  local castle - 

                    Schloss Seehof - which is half way back on 907 ( own arrangements)

        14.14    return on 907 bus ( 2/hour) to ZOB ( tickets from me) buses 2 /hr with

                    the last bus at 20.00

                    No evening plans - 

5) Friday 17 May 2013

       09.45 assemble at Bamberg Rail Station walk to Kasper - Schulz KG

      10.30  Kasper- Schulz brewery engineers works - led by Christian Kestel

       12.30  transfer to Fassla brewery for lunch

       14.00 - history walk along Koenigstrasse from Fassla, Spezial to Mahr's Brau

                  home of  'U' and Mahr brewery visit  and beer tasting     

                          walk to nearby Maisel brewery - closed 2008

       17.00   visit Keesmann brewery and beer tasting 

       18.00   supper  at Keesman tap (optional) 

       18.00   or disperse
