Part of the brewery was demolished sometime after the turn of the last century but most remains intact after about 150 years. A directory advertisement for the Dog & Partridge (of 1876) gives the information that “Home-brewed” ales were available and the proprietor was Thurstan Fairhurst. The name can be linked to a number of other pubs around Wigan and there is probably a family link to James Fairhurst of the Warrington Lane brewery.
