A substantial brewhouse stood at the rear of the Dog & Partridge Hotel (renamed The Last Orders). Part of the brewery was demolished sometime after the turn of the 20th century but most remains intact after about 150 years. A directory advertisement of 1876 for the Dog & Partridge gives the information that "Home-brewed" ales were available and the proprietor was Thurstan Fairhurst. The name can be linked to a number of other pubs around Wigan and there is probably a family link to James [[Fairhurst Ltd]] of the Warrington Lane brewery. | |||

A substantial brewhouse stood at the rear of the Dog & Partridge Hotel (renamed The Last Orders).
