Brewing commenced at the rear of the Fox & Crown, Nottingham in 1999, taking over the premises from Fiddler's Ales.

Alcazar stopped brewing in 2016, and the brewery was taken over by the new Shipstone company Shipstone’s Beer Company Ltd.
