Additional info from John Janaway

2 Bridge Street - built in 1865 as the Sun Brewery, it later became known as 'The Old Established Sun Brewery'.

The intertwined initials of the brewers, Stephen and Emma Smeed, and the date '1865' are carved on a limestone block set into the north wall of the building.

Brewing had probably been taking place on this site adjacent to the Sun Inn since the 17th century.

Brewing ceased here in 1891. (See John Janaway 'Godalming & Farncombe Pubs and Breweries', Ammonite Books 2003, pp.93-98.).

The tower brewery still stands.
