A group of BHS members had a rare opportunity to visit Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery at Tadcaster.

We were treated to an in-depth ‘behind the scenes’ tour hosted by head brewer Gavin Scoreby and Mick Burton. Sam’s is one of the few remaining breweries upholding the tradition of using dray horses to deliver beer barrels to their local pubs.

The barrels are all serviced and maintained in their own cooperage.

Of particular note on the tour were the 60+ Yorkshire Squares made from Welsh slate.
