An advert from 1889 Mitchells of Lancaster (Brewers) Ltd, Central Brewery, 11 Moor Lane, Lancaster, Lancashire.

Founded 1861 when William Mitchell leased the Black Horse Inn with brewery attached.

Central Brewery established 1882.

Registered as above 1965.

Brewing transferred to the Old Brewery after Yates & Jackson Ltd's closure in 1984.

Ceased brewing 1999. Mitchell Hotels acquired the York Brewery in 2008.
