Founded c.1854 and was owned by the Linnell family until c.1890 when the Kirby family extended the premises. Herbert King acquired it in 1900 and erected the Royal Crown Brewery in 1903. The name was changed as above 1924. Brewing ceased after 1940 and the brewery was demolished and houses built on the site. No tied houses domestic trade only.
