Robert Bell & Son appeared in directories from around 1850. William Turnbull leased the premises in the 1880s. Acquired by Rowell & Son Ltd of Gateshead in 1896. Plant for sale 1901.
Some of Turnbull's houses were acquired by Archibald Arrol & Sons Ltd.
