Joseph McKenna lists John Lewis as the earliest landlord of this early C19 home-brew house. After him, his son William, then the Meanley family. John Foley (Dudley) (Kate's Hill Brewery, Dudley), bought the house in 1879.
James C Guest was recorded in 1935 and William Easthope in 1940.
The pub was acquired by J. P. Simpkiss of Brierley Hill, and thence to Greenalls.
Rescued from semi-dereliction and reopened as a free house in 1997. Fownes Brewing microbrewery was established at the pub in July 2012.
