Baxter acquired the brewery from the estate of John Booth in 1884 who had been fatally scalded the previous year.  
In January 1850 partnership of Richard Booth & John Baxter dissolved when latter left and founded the Glen Top Brewery.  


Acquired by his brother [[John Baxter Ltd]]. of Waterfoot 1922 with 40 tied houses.
In 1884 William bought from the exors of John Booth who had been fatally scalded the previous year.
