Originally Wilcocks & Rewe, but in 1857 was noted in Billings Directory as Heavitree Brewery with Elizabeth Baker as brewer.
Registered in February 1890 to acquire E N Birkett. 135 tied houses.
The company decided to end brewing in 1970 and the pub estate was initially supplied by Whitbread.
The brewery was demolished in 1986.
The company retains a pub estate, most of which is in Devon.
