Scarsdale Brewery Co. Ltd, Spa Lane Brewery, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
Registered June 1865. Acquired by Whitbread & Co. Ltd in February 1958.
The offices survive, facing St Mary's Gate. The brewery at the rear has been demolished and is now occupied by a public car park.
At 42 St Mary's Gate is a blue plaque installed by the Chesterfield Civic Society:
I & F Dunnell owned the Scarsdale Brewery during the 1850s, and built the Vaults in 1854. Their name, plus the date 1854 and 'WHOLESALE & RETAIL WINE & SPIRITS MERCHANTS' are on the stone pediment of the Vaults building, which is now in retail use.
