Founded by William Okell. He began brewing in 1850 at "Castle Hill".
In 1861, George Atkins (aged 65) was recorded as brewer and maltster, but was insolvent by 1869.
On retirement to the Island, Charles Udall bought the Castle Hill Brewery, probably in 1871 - then built the Railway Hotel in 1874. Charles Udall & Co produced draught X Ale, XX Ale, XXX Ale, XXXX Ale and Pale Ale, as well as bottled Pale Ale; they also distributed Manders’s Dublin Stout.
