In 1914, Sarah Hughes was brewing in Bilston: see Sarah Hughes (Bilston). Moved to the Beacon Hotel, Sedgley, after buying it at auction in 1920.
Brewing ceased in 1958, but recommenced by the family in 1987.

Previously the Barley Mow. Moved to the Beacon Hotel, Sedgley, after buying it at auction in 1920. A second home brew pub, the Plume of Feathers, High Street, Dudley, was acquired in 1936. Now Grade II listed building.
