There was a brewhouse at the Globe Inn in 1724 and it is also recorded again in 1823. Commercial brewing was taking place here by 1841. Brewery rebuilt in 1865. Globe Brewery closed 1901 but also listed at 5 Newmarket Road until 1907 and the Prince of Wales Brewery, 1 Church Street 1892-96.
